Mathilde MERCKX

 

 

Mathilde Merckx specialises in life sciences and healthcare law, as well as in product liability and personal injury law. She assists and represents manufacturers, start-ups and professionals, notably in the health sector (pharmaceutical companies, manufacturers and distributors of medical devices, cosmetics and food supplements, medical and paramedical professions), on issues of national and international scope. 

 

She advises her clients on all regulated sectors issues (specifically, marketing, promotion and communication, e-health, qualification of healthcare products, unfair competition between healthcare stakeholders) and represents them before the competent courts. 

Professional background

After starting out as a lawyer in the field of life sciences and healthcare, Mathilde practised in the fields of industrial risks, insurance law and liability law, notably with Moureu Associés (now Alchimie Avocats). 

 

She then joined the international legal department of a major pharmaceutical group, where she specialised in vigilance, risk management and products safety, before resuming her practice in 2021 and joining Alchimie Avocats as a partner in January 2023. 

 

Academic background

Mathilde Merckx was admitted to the Paris Bar in 2012. She holds a Master 2 in Human Rights and Bioethics Law from the University of Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne, and a university diploma in Medical Law from the Pierre et Marie Curie Faculty of Medicine (the subject of her thesis was the acceptance and management of risks in medical liability). 

 

Associations and networks 

 

Mathilde Merckx is a member of the “Femmes de Santé” collective, the first multi-professional association of women working in the healthcare sector. 

She also represents the firm in the International Association of Lawyers (UIA) and the French Healthcare Association.
